Rector’s Welcome
Whether you are a regular parishioner, have moved into the area and are considering joining our Parish, or are a friend of the parish, I welcome you to St Paul’s Burwood website.
When Jesus was asked which of all the commandments was the greatest, he replied:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbour as yourself.”
Our historic church, dedicated to St Paul the Apostle & Martyr, was designed by the Australian colonial architect Edmund Blacket. It had its foundation stone laid on 29 July 1871 and the first service was held in the church on Saturday 27 April 1872. Since its earliest days St Paul’s has maintained a fine reputation for liturgy and music in the Anglican (Tractarian) tradition.
I am very glad that you have found us and I look forward to getting to know you.
May God richly bless you!
Peace,
Fr James Collins OAM
Rector
